Hungry Highway collects as little as possible.

Analytics

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first, cookieless tool that records aggregate page views and performance metrics without cookies or device fingerprinting.

The site also uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the map and trip planner: pages viewed, and actions like clicking a pin or building a trip. Google Analytics sets cookies (_ga and _ga_*) to distinguish visitors, as described in Google's privacy & terms. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or by blocking analytics scripts in your browser.

Location

The "locate me" button on the map asks your browser for your location to center the map near you. Your location is used only in your browser at that moment. It is never sent to or stored by Hungry Highway.

Advertising

If advertising is enabled, ads are served by Google AdSense, which may use cookies or device identifiers as described in Google's privacy & terms. You can control ad personalization through your Google settings.

Photo uploads

If you submit a photo, Hungry Highway stores the image itself and a salted hash of your IP address (used only to limit spam; the raw address is never stored). Photos are resized in your browser before upload, which removes embedded metadata such as GPS location. Every photo is reviewed before it appears on the site. By uploading, you grant Hungry Highway a non-exclusive license to display the photo and confirm you have the right to share it. To request removal of a photo, open an issue on the project's GitHub repository.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links are affiliate links. The destination site may set cookies to attribute a purchase; Hungry Highway itself receives no personal information from this.

Trip emails and the newsletter

"Email me this trip" sends a one-time email to the address you enter, and nothing further unless you tick the newsletter box. If you opt in, we store your email, the date, and the signup source; emails are sent through Resend, every message includes an unsubscribe link, and you can write to info@hungryhighway.com to be removed. Addresses are never shared or sold. Shared trip links contain only the list of public map stops you chose.
